“Personal Space” - Gallery Reception

May 26

Visual Arts Center | 927 3rd Avenue

5pm - 7pm

Area painter and sculptor Sassa Wilkes has made her mark on the area as the studio art teacher at Cabell Midland High School and as the creator of one of the recent Artisans Express art trains. Get a deeper view of her latest works in a new exhibit, "Personal Space," which is up May 26 through July 5 at the Carroll Gallery at the MU Visual Art Center.

Inspired by a personal history of disordered sleep that often blurs the boundary between dreaming and wakefulness, and aims to invite the viewer into an intimate and slightly surreal moment in time, "Personal Space" can be viewed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The gallery is free and open to the public. There is a free reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 26. Go online at to find out more about the Visual Art Center, which also has the Honors Portfolio Exhibition 2017 winners' work up through June 9.
